Garrett Redwine

Garrett Moore Redwine, age 19, passed away suddenly on March 14, 2020, in Sunset, UT. He leaves behind his parents, Tim Redwine and Katherine Jones Redwine, and his siblings Elliott (Veigh) and Hannah.

He was born on May 9, 2000, raised in Lake Forest, CA, and he loved riding motocross, snowboarding, and surfing. His contagious laugh brightened the lives of everyone he met, and he could make anyone smile the moment he walked into a room. We are most sad for those who never had the opportunity to meet our incredible young man.

On March 14th we lost one of the brightest lights that ever blessed the world. Garrett’s laughter, joy, and smile raised the spirits of everyone lucky enough to know him.

Gare Bear, G-Man, we know you’re riding up in heaven now and watching out for us as you do. 19 years with you wasn’t nearly long enough but the number of people you impacted in that time is incredible. We’ll carry you in our hearts and minds every day until we get to see you again. We love you, sweet boy.

We would love for you to click here to leave a comment about your favorite memories, fun stories, or anything that reminds you of how Garrett’s light impacted your life.

  2. Thinking about what a joy of light you always brought to my day. I was blessed to become so close to you in 2017. We shared so many great memories since then. I will never forget all the times I would leave school early to hang out with you and Jordan. You never failed to make me laugh. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

  3. Our fondest memory is seeing the Katherine/Garrett team ushering at Mount of Olives worship services. Garrett’s beautiful smile welcomed everyone who stepped through the door. This lovely memorial service showed how he radiated that light to so many. Praying for strength, peace, and comfort as you all move forward in life without him. 🙏💕

  4. I was so touched today at Garrett’s beautiful celebration of life. Hearing how he touched so many lives with his infectious smile and constant joy filled my heart. I have always heard that God gets the good ones when they are young. God will give you the strength and comfort to get through this, keep your eyes on things above. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and he saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18 “ Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my fathers house are many rooms, if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:1. I love you Katherine Tim Veigh and Hannah and my heart is with you❤️

  5. Our family was so blessed to have Garrett as our son’s friend. His smile and wonderful demeanor lifted us up every time he was with us. We miss him so much, and want everyone to know he was as good a person they come. God bless and comfort all who love him.

  6. Garrett those of us left behind will always wonder why. You were such a funny boy and grew up into a great young man! You were loved by everyone you touched. You left us way too soon, Gare-Bear and we will all be the poorer for it for the rest of our lives. I love you and miss you tremendously. Everytime I think of never seeing you again in this life it makes me sad. Will have to wait to see you again – until then hug your Grandma and I look forward to the day when I get to see your infectious smile and hear your lovely laugh! Love you forever ❤ Aunt Steph

  7. My Facebook memorial popped up the other day and these great memories came rushing back about the bet I lost with Garrett ( my little cousin beating me at something) at Hannahs college graduation party, and the one time a long time ago when everyone was much smaller I believe it was Elliot and I threw him in the ocean in Cali and he was so mad but couldn’t stop laughing. I will forever remember his laugh and that moment and smile.

  8. Just don’t know what say, can’t imagine how U feel. Didn’t spend a whole lot of time with Garrett cause we’re so far apart. I t sounded like everything was going so well after the move to SLC.
He’ll be in our thoughts and memories forever. And our thoughts & prayers for the family!
And as Jen said, give your Grandma Eleanor a big hug and smooch for us😘

  9. Garrett was always polite and helpful with us, even when his folks weren’t around. Or maybe especially because they weren’t. He just was. He would harass and joke with us but cautiously, just in case. Respectful.
From a young age, he couldn’t wait to get to the desert, get the bikes out, help set up the trailer so he could ride. And he did- ALL THE TIME. He would have to be called in to eat or drink and maintain his bike.
I was so happy that he was diggin’ Utah.
    I miss him.

  10. While we weren’t close because of the miles and years between us, I do know the times we spent with you were always fun! Gavin still remembers our trip to the beach when he was 2 and you helped him dig a hole in the sand and bury him. You also sparked his interest in lacrosse because he thought you were a stud. The last time I saw you was in SLC for Hannah’s graduation a few summers ago and you were so handsome and grown up! Give grandma Eleanor kisses for us! Until we meet again cousin…💙

  11. Garrett Redwine was one of my favorites, always respectful and polite and funny all at once. I had a lot of fun watching him play lacrosse and ride his dirt bike. I think his bike was his biggest passion, he often asked me if I wanted to go race a Grand Prix and I never got that chance,I really missed out I would of loved to watch him race. I guess now he’s racing at a better place ……… Race on 426 ❤️

  12. I met Garrett playing pop warner football and a slight friendship started in middle school. We really became friends in high school and connected through how random we both were and other interests we shared. Playing lacrosse with you was always a great time as well as golfing at mid night out drives to the beach and the parties we’d have and just regular everyday things we’d do after school. What I think everyone’s gonna miss is going to be how happy you always were and the amazing person you were becoming. Love you Garrett you’ll never be forgotten 💙

  13. There’s a couple memories I’d like to share about Garrett that kind of shows our work life experience with him.
At work I called my wife on my breaks sometimes; Garrett over heard my conversation about me doing some dishes and chimed in with his Garrett 2 cents and said… “Aren’t the dishes a woman’s job?”. Little did he know my wife heard. We both thought it was the funniest thing.
Lastly, he helped me haul away an over grown rose Bush and plum tree we decided to dispose of them at our work dumpster. Both of us were wondering if it’d be best to take it to a green dump, but we were right there so we decided we’d be quick…. we backed up his beautifully used Toyota truck and started disposing of the greenery.
As we were coming back for more an engineer came walking out. We both froze and stared as he just kept his head down as we were sitting there red handed trying to get rid of the load. He never looked over. And it turned into another fun experience. Garrett you left too soon. You touched so many lives in such a short time. I’m happy I was one of them. Thank you for making work fun. I love you man I’ll see you later.

  14. We remember meeting the Redwine’s while walking the dogs at the park. Greg saw a bike in the garage & sometimes on the back of their van. After that it was history . We struck up a friendship with Mr. Garrett & the whole family. He had that wild curly dark hair & a smile that was hugely contagious. Garrett was a great human being all around. He was so excited to go riding no matter where he went. We will miss you alot Mr. Garrett especially when we go riding. Love you lots Garrett, See you when we see you. Heaven got the sweetest Angel ever. 😇💔

  15. As Shellee and I look at these great memories. It is hard not to cry and wonder why. Garrett was one our best friends and riding buddies you could ever want. Always smiling and ready to go. Glen Helen, Cahilla, Copper city or were ever . Always a great time . We love and will miss you 426.

  16. I met Garrett during freshman football. From then on I would see him on the field with me for the next four years through lacrosse. One of the best teammates and friend you could ask for and always putting a smile on my face. Glad I got to ride with at milestone and cahuilla with you over the years after high school. Forever in our hearts #426. My heartfelt prayers go to the Redwine family. Keep rippin’ loamy berms up there brother, until we meet again! ❤️❤️❤️

  17. For the short amount of time I was lucky to hangout with Garret, I was going through a very rough time. Every time I was with him he never failed to put a smile on my face. No matter how bad the situation was he’d always find humor in it and make everyone around him happy. Whether it was going up a trail and getting stuck there for 8hrs, or even just kickin’ it in the Del Taco parking lot there was never a dull moment. I’m grateful for the time I spent with Garret and will never forget him. #426Redwine

  20. Hey Garret I miss riding with you buddy, we always had the best times on the way up to the desert holding the number one outside the window for whoever was going the fastest down the freeway to get there. Me and you were always so competitive out in the desert riding too which made it so fun. We had so many laughs together, from hanging with our group to doing crazy fun stuff out in the desert to playing lacrosse and skating Etnies skatepark. I know you are watching over all of us. Love you brotha miss you.

  21. Countless hours skating, playing football, golfing, basketball, and much more! You helped mold me growing up with you. We were always outside at vintage. Much love forever❤️

  22. I met Garrett a couple times through my cousin Steven and ima just say he always made us laugh. I remember we went to the lake with him and we played pass in the water and all of us even wrestled in the water. It was fun and it really sucks to see him gone. Rip Garrett, you are loved and miss and we’ll all see each other again one day. Much love and prayers to the family ❤️❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽

  23. I can think of a lot of memories with Garrett, but the best time with g man would have to be the time he was my QB freshman year and I scored my first touchdown that he threw to me. I was so happy and he was also! I’m going to miss his smile and everything we have done together! I’ll play football for my brother Garrett this year.❤️

  24. I met Garrett at a party and he was one of the most enthusiastic and happiest kids I can say I’ve ever met! I wish we became closer as friends because you are an awesome guy. Keep riding bro.❤️ #426redwine

I’m going to miss laughing with you and enjoying every moment we had from sneaking out, sneaking into everywhere and getting in trouble with the cops. I’m happy we became super close from freshman year till now. Thanks for always being a great friend, but I know I’ll see you again. So keep riding bro! #426redwine.

    1. Garret was honestly one of the friendliest people I met at Trabuco my freshman year. I have so many good memories of us hanging out all throughout high school, because he always had a smile on his face and knew how to make everyone laugh and have a good time. Wether we were all running around high school playing games at night, hanging out at friends houses, or showin up to mess around when we worked at Subway our junior year, he was always having the most fun. I appreciate all the good memories he left me and everyone else that knew him. Keep rippin Garret❤️
